Our Mission Statement
We have lived along the forgotten road and walked its path along with hundreds of other weary and broken souls.We have heard their stories and been inspired to fight by their struggles. Our mission is to not be among those who have given up on them, but to inspire others to support them through their adversity and strengthen their faith... to give them hope by fixing one broken law at a time. We pray we can make this journey a little easier for those who come after us.
Who knew our journey would lead us to Congress on behalf of the disabled, widows and orphans of our first responder family? God did. But I would never have guessed this to be our path if someone had asked me 20+ years ago.
This journey has also connected us with a lot of different people from all walks of life and levels of resources. If we can connect someone with the resourses they need, when they need them, that is an added bonus that we love to be a part of!

They can't fix what they don't know is broken:
Most civilians, including those in government, and even first responders who have not been personally affected by permanent disability, have no idea what is broken or what needs to be addressed. It is up to us who have traveled this road to bring it to their attention and speak through the noise to make change happen for those who come after us. This is hard work that requires persistance and a lot of "God work" to open doors at the right time with the right people in the right place.A little slice of what God has allowed us to accomlish on behalf of our disabled LE family:
PAFRA - Passed to help relieve some of the backlog with line of duty disability PSOB claims, especially those dealing with TBI that have been stuck in the pipeline for years. (Federal S1511- 2021)
Putting First Responoders First - Passed under Secure 2.0 and goes into effect tax year 2027 to codify line of duty disability pension tax status into tax law instead of relying on a hard to find and often misinterpreted revenue ruling. (Federal HR2617 - 2022)
Law Enforcement Officer & Firefighter Recreation Pass Act - allowing national park access for first responders who fight to preserve and protect our communities as well as these resources every day. This has passed the House and is gaining momentum in the Senate under S3456 under the lead of Montana Senator Tim Sheehy.
Montana fishing licenses - out of state waiver for the purpose of non-profit theraputic events for first responders. This is the same benefit as is available for military veterans in Montana. (MT HB221- 2015)
Montana property tax relief benefit for first responders disabled in the line of duty, and widows of first responders killed in the line of duty This is the same as Montana's veteran property tax relief benefit and was designed to act as a precident for other states. (MT HB140- 2025)
Updating the Montana code for Police and Firefighters disabled or killed in the line of duty so pensions are treated appropriately according to federal tax code. (MT S316 - 2025)
These are a few of the issues we have had the privledge of playing key roles in passage over the course of the past few years. There have been numerous other bills we have weighed in on and advocated for, and sometimes against. Some are still in the works. Others have died in committee or never made it past the drafting stage. We have others in the idea stage that need a sponsor to pick up and run with. Some ideas are clearly state issues, even though we know of first responders in many states that deal with the same or similar issues. They are state issues because we agree that the federal government should not have overreach over all of the issues our local communities face. That being said, sometimes there is a time and a place for federal minimum standards and guidelines on things where the states set the final policy. Feel free to contact me with issues you would like to see addressed. I am happy to take a look at ideas because ideas are what form policy.We live in an awesome country where citizens do have a voice in our government. We do not take that lightly.

Search out legislation by key word and follow. Write your members of Congress to support or comment on legislation. Get involved. Be an advocate. See what your members of Congress are supporting.... or not supporting. Be informed.
